The Chance To Volunteer For Free In Africa – Let’s Be Honest
It’s no real surprise that a lot of people considering this kind of working holiday will search for free work volunteering abroad. The challenge is the word free. In some ways it’s not unreasonable to think that if you are giving up your valuable free time you would expect people in Africa to be waiting for you with open arms. You have to look at it from both angles for realism to sink in.
Volunteer organizations in Africa really do need your assistance and help. Whether it’s helping with lion conservation in volunteering in Kenya, HIV/AIDS awareness in Nairobi, coaching football in Uganda or working with orphans in Tanzania.
These people in Africa rely on volunteers to give them the help and assistance the government can’t A proportion of the money that you pay towards your project goes as a donation which helps the organisation by more food for the orphans or buy more bricks to help build a new school and even on medical supplies.
You can look at it this way and for about £500 you are able to work, sleep and eat in Dar es Salaam for cheaper than you would be able to spend a week in a hotel in your home town. Your not even going to be able to even stay in a hotel anywhere in England for those kind of prices. There are so many unforeseen benefits of being able to volunteer abroad. For the same money at home not only would you not be able to afford your board for the month but certainly no food or travelling. It would also be the same if you lived in the USA or Australia. The price of many volunteer opportunities abroad is probably even less money than staying in your local bed and breakfast. You do have to pay for your flight overseas but if you were going on holiday anyway this is something you would have to account for.
Volunteering for free isn’t practical and i can almost guarantee you won’t find anywhere that does it. A comparison between this experience and the one you would receive on a holiday is incomparable and you certainly don’t get to meet the same amount of new people. Nothing can put a price tag on a volunteering experience.
